13 Reasons Why Is Back!!

Grace Goldberg-Doyle, Staff Writer

Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why was an extremely controversial show. Netflix released the show on March 31, 2017 and there was an instant mix of good and bad reactions.

Despite questions about whether the show would continue, Netflix recently announced that there would be a second season.

This show is based on the well-known book which focuses on a high school student named Clay Jensen. It begins with him coming home to discover a package with 13 cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, a student who recently committed suicide. We follow the students’ journey throughout the season and see the impact of Hannah’s death on her classmates.

The show got a lot of attention and ended up generating over 11 million tweets within the first month of it’s release. Although many people enjoyed the heartbreaking story, others claimed it romanticized suicide.

Nonetheless, because of its huge popularity, Netflix has decided to release season two. This season will consist of 13 more episodes and will be on Netflix May 18, 2018.

It’s unclear from the trailer what season two will be about, but it appears to deal with more of the aftermath.
